"Next Avengers, Part 5: Battle for the Future Cover art to the Super Hero Squad Variant is a homage to the cover of Thor #126 (March 1966). Also includes Chapter 7 of Avengers Assemble: The Oral History of the Earth's Mightiest Heroes by Brian Michael Bendis. Continues in New Avengers Vol 2 #5. Pages 9-10 display a map of future events, events that Marvel editor Tom Brevoort has said actually correspond to actual planned events. Some have happened, some haven't. These include Captain America Reborn, What did Cap see? (a vision shown to him in Captain America: Reborn #6, that sparked his ideas for the future), Nine Worlds in Disarray (likely a reference to Avengers: Prime Vol 1, which features Iron Man, Thor, and Steve Rogers in the other worlds of Asgard), What is where Asgard should be? (Thor #621, which features an upheaval in the Nine Worlds involving that result in the World Eaters attempting to take control of the Asgard dimension), Three! (a likely reference to the Fantastic Four story line of the same name), Heroic Age Begins, Hope Returns!?, Throwbacks!, Chaos!, Man Without Fear, Nova Antiquus, Master of Kung Fu, Five Lights, Night Falls?, Academy Traitor!, Return of the King, the Drumm of Revenge (a reference to the events of New Avengers Vol 2 #6 or the fallout from that issue), Iron Lad (Re)Turns?, H:I Stark Resilient, All Hope Lies in Doom!, Galactus Seed, Where's Wanda?, Schizm!, What's in the rings?!?!, Yesterday's X-Men, Steve's Vision!, Fear Without Man, Who is Worthy?, Scorched Earth?, the Ultron War (an event directly referenced in this issue) and Yesterday's X-Men (as in the first story line of All-New X-Men the original five X-Men are taken to the future)."
