"The Death of The Red Mask In the aftermath of the Invasion, Animal Man finds himself in Miami, FL. The city was heavily damaged by a Khund warship during the Invasion and is currently under attack by retro looking red robots. Animal Man discovers a washed up minor villain by the name of Red Mask standing on the ledge of a building preparing to jump. Animal Man talks Red Mask off the ledge and learns he is behind the robot attack. Red Mask tells Animal Man his origin story, which begins when he discovered a meteorite in the 1940s. The meteorite gave Red Mask a death touch: any living creature he touches dies. Red Mask says that the only super power he ever wanted was the ability to fly. Once Red Mask was cursed with the death touch, he became a criminal because he could not think of any other use for his power. He teamed with a villain called the Veil, who he says later went crazy. Red Mask says that he had a relatively low key and unsuccessful career as a villain, and he retired until recently when he learned that he had a terminal illness. Red Mask seized the opportunity to release his old robots after the Invasion. Animal Man convinces Red Mask not to kill himself, and tells him to wait there while he gathers up the rest of Red Mask's robots. As soon as Animal Man flies away, Red Mask steps to the ledge and jumps. As Red Mask falls to his death, he seems to have achieved peace by finally getting his chance to fly."
